The Evolution of Darwin’s House
This past few months have been exciting, working closely with English Heritage on a consultancy basis with re-evaluating and looking at Down House, the home of world renowned scientist Charles Darwin – the author of ‘The Origin of the Species’.
The current house and gardens are great, but are they as great or as interesting as they could be? We have looked into the narrative of the site, the stories that are told, and how the public have reacted to them. Visitor numbers are at a maximum for the current car parking and house tours, but there is a flexibility in the exterior spaces that means a different way of creating the visitor journey could be possible.
