The Birth of the Tudors
Margaret Beaufort and Henry Tudor
On the 28th January 1457, thirteen year old Margaret Beaufort gave birth to her only son at Pembroke Castle… and so began a story of legends.
Henry eventually defeated Richard III at Bosworth Field to become King, while Margaret - married three times, was the kingmaker behind the scenes, pulling the strings and eventually ending the Wars of the Roses.
Setting the scene in Pembroke Castle we worked with Maltings Partnership to create ornate tapestries and beautiful stained glass windows, while Osiris Sculpture produced life-like and life-sized figures of Margaret, baby Henry and her nurse maid.
