Catch Us If You Can!

Following the closure of the National Slate Museum in Llanberis, it has been decided to take the Museum to the people, while its home is being redeveloped and updated over the next 18 months. Therefore, locations around north Wales with close connections to the slate industry have been chosen.

You can find ‘Liam the Blacksmith’ working at Cei Llechi (Slate Quay) in Caernarfon,

JohnJo the ‘Slate-splitter’ working in prestigious Penrhyn Castle,

and Gwenan the ‘Knowledge holder of all things ‘Slate’ at the Quarry Hospital in Llanberis itself.

These new travelling exhibitions have been named the Museum on the Move, and we’ve created the branding for these pop up heritage events. The icon is based around the classic quarry wagon seen everywhere in the landscape. The rest of the branding has been developed in close collaboration with Amgueddfa Cymru, the National Museum of Wales.
